    With a degree in Economics from UQ, as a 20-year-old I followed my father’s footsteps into the Insurance Industry. I worked for a large Insurer as part of their Graduate Program, which provided great exposure into many different aspects of the business, from the ground up.

    With this foundation, and now close to 30 years later as a business owner and Adviser, I’ve learned so much about helping clients help themselves to make important decisions with clarity and confidence. Feedback I often get is that I’m ‘good at making the complex, simple’. Great, I’ll take that!

    Many Financial Advisers do some Insurance, but not many specialise to the level I do. Data from a recent study reported that “Across Australia, there are now around 150 ‘pure risk’ advisers. In other words, less than 1 per cent of the retail advisers in the country fall into this category”. *

    I know that I’m one of a rare breed.

    I have clients from many different industries and have always had a special interest in the insurance needs of Veterinarians, having worked closely with Vets since my career began. It’s rewarding after many years and many happy clients later, to still be getting nice feedback from new Vet clients saying : Justin Ward quote – “for the first time I think I understand my Insurance”

    My wife Amanda and I have two young boys who keep us on our toes. I love travelling having lived in London and backpacked across Europe in my younger days. Being ‘from the bush’ I have a great affinity with the land and spending time in the garden, as well as playing tennis, golf and studying the sharemarket.

    Taking time to really get to know people enables me to tailor every strategy and plan for each specific client. Right from the first meeting, my approach is to get to the heart of what is truly needed. I have a genuine desire to help people succeed financially.

    I strongly believe financial planning isn’t about money. That might sound contradictory, but really, planning is about people – their dreams, their concerns, their future. Money is merely the means to get you there and should not be the sole focus when planning your life.

    My view is that financial planning cannot have a one-size-fits-all approach. Each client has different dreams and with nearly a decade of experience in the industry, I not only understand the theory of planning but also has the practical know-how of what actually works.

    For me as the custodian of people’s money the first and foremost important step is managing the RISK of investing and navigating volatility ‘ups and downs.’ No-one should have to feel the stresses of not having enough money in /or for retirement.

    I'm always ready for a cuppa and to guide you through those big life changing decisions, with good humour and solid advice.
